The spring semester has begun, but that does not seem to affect the weather at all. It is still quite cold most days, and the wind has a chill to it that makes it uncomfortable to sit outside and read as I am apt to do. Yesterday was my first College Writing class. I enjoyed it quite a bit; Mrs. Cynthia Richardson is my teacher. I have heard mixed feelings toward and about her from numerous students, but I truly like her personality so far. We went over the syllabus yesterday, and, although I'm not much of a writer in my own mind, I'm sure I'll probably enjoy the class more than I expected to. All winter break, I looked forward to this class with dread, but now I'm rather glad to have started it. Hopefully, if all goes well, it will inspire me to write more on my own time: online and even in a real notebook if I can talk myself into it. I would really love to start and complete a notebook journal. It would give me a real sense of accomplishment I believe.
Today in the e-mail, I received a cute little reading. I shall post it below:
-
An American scientist once visited the offices of the great Nobel Prize-winning physicist, Neils Bohr, in Copenhagen, and was amazed to find that over his desk a horseshoe was nailed to the wall.
The American said with a nervous laugh, "Surely you don't believe that horseshoe will bring you good luck, do you, Professor Bohr?"
Bohr chuckled. "I believe no such thing, my good friend. Not at all. I am scarcely likely to believe in such foolish nonsense. However, I am told that a horseshoe will bring you good luck whether you believe in it or not!"
-
This set me to thinking about God. In much the same manner that a horseshoe is said to "bring good luck whether you believe in it or not", God gives you His love whether you believe in Him or not. However, the good news about God is that once you accept that love, you accept all the benefits that come with being a believer in Christ.
That is my thought of the day, I suppose.
Last week I bought Enya's new CD entitled "Amarantine". I have loved Enya's voice for a long time, and I find her music inspiring. I suppose I will always connect Enya with Lord of the Rings and the song May It Be. It is a beautiful song; I could listen to it all day. But the new CD is amazing. I haven't decided for certain, but I believe that "It's in the Rain" is my favorite song on the album. This could be due to the fact that I personally love rain and thunderstorms and sitting and relaxing while listening to the sound of the rain. The lyrics, music, and vocals are all beautiful. Here are the lyrics:
-
Everytime the rain comes down
I close my eyes and listen
I can hear the lonesome sound
Of the sky as it cries
Listen to the rain
Here it comes again
Hear it in the rain
Feel the touch of tears that fall
They won't fall forever
In the way the day will flow
All things come, all things go
Listen to the rain... the rain
Here it comes again... again
Hear it in the rain... the rain
Late at night I drift away
I can hear you calling
And my name is in the rain
Leaves on trees whispering
Deep blue seas, mysteries
Even when this moment ends
Can't let go this feeling
Everything will come again
In the sound falling down
Of the sky as it cries
Hear my name in the rain

Enya's music is just so relaxing. I love it.
A little over a week ago my dog, Kyrie', stole an entire bag of Ghiradelli chocolates. (MY Ghiradelli chocolates mind you) By the time we found her, all of them were gone, with no trace of even the foil wrappers that they all were in. So, for the last week and a half, we have been discovering Ghiradelli wrappers all over the house. Today we found a big wad of foil in mom's room. Of course, this serves the dog right for eating all of my Ghiradelli chocolates.
I am currently reading "The Book Without Words" by Avi, and I'm very much looking forward to getting back to it. I will, therefore, post this now and go get my book. Maybe I'll start a real, paper journal too!
